It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything on here, as you well can see. My life has been hard recently. I’ve had little energy for writing. Excuses, excuses. But, in all seriousness, I could use your help. I’m fundraising for myself. Yes, you read that correctly. Let me tell you why.
I recently graduated with my Master of Public Health and completed a 200 hour yoga teacher training. I’ve been looking for both yoga teacher jobs as well as public health jobs since March. I was having difficulty with this so I started waitressing to pay for rent and food since I no longer had student loans to support me. I was determined to not leave Boston and move home and live with family in New York.
However, I was “let go” from my waitressing gig. I tried to apply for unemployment but it turns out I’m a couple hundred bucks short on income earned making me ineligible. I have picked up a couple of gigs here and there while applying and interviewing for public health jobs. My mother has also sold some of our old jewelry to help me out, but I can’t ask her to sell more sentimental items.
Now, I turn to you lovely people willing to help others out. I am still determined to stay in Boston, particularly because I am now teaching yoga regularly, which took a lot of hard work. Yoga is the main thing that has kept me sane as well as given me the strength and patience to continue job hunting despite my financial challenges. I know this time of struggle will only make me stronger but I need a little help to keep on truckin‘.
Advice, suggestions, and wisdom are always appreciated, too. This quote is my current inspiration to keep going:
“Everything in life is temporary. So if things are going good, enjoy it because it won’t last forever. And if things are going bad, don’t worry. It can’t last forever either.”
No where to go but up!
